jdog_kustoms 82 #1 Posted July 9, 2009 im looking at a 417-8 that comes with a mower and a blade. The tractor has some small rust spots nothing rusted threw just paint peeled and surface rust i was just curious what the going price would be for one hes asking $485 and is the 400 series a decent tractor i know the 520 is the make daddy but not on my budget and does it have hydrolic or electric lift and how do you tell and also does a 417 have any type of rear lift or can i purchase a rear lift for it
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,527 #2 Posted July 9, 2009 The 417-8 has an electric lift. Would say his asking price is very good. Then again I am here in CT where the prices are rather high. The 417 is a great set up because you get the power of a 17hp with the 8 speed combo. Good luck-
jtmoyer 1 #3 Posted July 9, 2009 buy it. if u were to sell the electric lift it would sell for over $100 complete, that makes the tractor in the 300 range. i have a 417 8 and love it (also a 520). i paid 500 for the 417 not running at the time. it sat for 12 years untouched, fresh fluids and a battery change and it was humming. whfan74 2,071 #4 Posted July 9, 2009 Sounds like a very good deal for it. How many hours does the tractor have on it? The 417 should have the lift tube already installed under the fender pan for the rear lift. The only thing needed would be the cable and the type of hitch that you would want to have back there. No modifications should be needed. You can find hitches on here or through Ebay fairly easy. I am sure someone probably has an extra lift cable for you. Good luck and of course :thumbs2:

bo dawg 517 #6 Posted July 9, 2009 It's worth that price far sure just if it runs. Try buying the engine alone for that price.
DMESS 24 #7 Posted July 9, 2009 Just for the sake of adding my 2 cents, it COULD be a 1985 417-8 and then it would NOT be factory equipped with the electric lift. The '86 had the lift standard and so did the '87 418-8. The electric lift kit could be added to any machine with the standard manual lift, but is seldom found on the non factory equipped machines.
