bork 0 #1 Posted July 9, 2009 I want to pull off & clean out before starting. Been sitting 10 years. But the bowl is kinda stuck on.( before I force it down,) should I assume there is a gasket & a special one at that, which will be torn? Also should this be asked in the engine section? Please inform me, if I'm in wrong place. Thanks

oldandred 15 #3 Posted July 11, 2009 If youre going to take it apart and clean it you should have a kit ready to go back in Yes the most of the time after sitting for ten year will be stuck just tap on the bowl not hard and it will come down and yes theres a rubber round gasket and should be a flat one also if youre care full they will be ok but dont count on it good luck
Buzz 502 #4 Posted July 11, 2009 Here's the engine manual you need. It has a good section on carburetors. http://www.kohlerengines.com/onlinecatalog/pdf/tp_2379.pdf
stevasaurus 23,274 #5 Posted July 11, 2009 sprey the bowl with carb cleaner and let it set a day...could fall off without hurting gasket. :thumbs2:
sorekiwi 761 #6 Posted July 12, 2009 The gaskets are rubber, so they will probably survive the bowl removal. In my experiance though, they swell with time, so they may not want to go back on. Most mower shops should have a kit in stock, or you can get on from NAPA (they will probably have to get it in for you.
