The idler pulley is a flat idler.  The flat side of the belt goes UNDER the idler pulley.

8 speeds use a V-pulley idler positioned on the inside of the drive belt loop. (under) Not a Flat idler on the outside or top like a hydro tractor does.

The belt will run on top of the V idler

@kitkit make sure you lubricate related linkage areas , chances are the rust will run out , grease clutch pedal related movement areas , the freer it is , the more it can follow the spring tension pull , greasy  pete

The OEM 'V' idler pulley for the C-125 is #7451...revised to # 95-7668.  Find it on Ebay or at dealers for about $25.

It is 4" diameter with a 3/8" hub...with standoff of  1/16" or so.

parfts tree would be a source.
