the pulley on the engine is about 2 inches in circumference

I think you meant to say diameter of 2", 2" circumference would be about 5/8" diameter.

I I just want it to be able to drive around at 9mph

:scared-eek:  Nine MPH on a narrow garden tractor with very little braking force and steering that is rather sloppy at best not to mention a quick steering ratio is probably not a good idea.

For a pulley remover

You can barrow or rent a puller from most auto parts stores.

Keep in mind that the belt guard on normal :wh: tractors is the clutch and the lever is just the tensioner.  Once you get it running, the belt MUST be 100% stopped before shifting.  Never try to jam gears while the belt is moving :handgestures-thumbupright:

Personally, I would just cut it off. Probably faster to do that too. Just don't cut into the shaft.

Again, just try a belt first and go from there.

How about a pic of the steering pin you broke? I'm not sure what pin you're referring to

I don’t got a pic sorry but it’s a pin that goes in the steering shaft all the way at the front so the steering wheel turns fine cuz there’s no pin in it so it can turn the tires

If this is the pin you are missing you can make one by welding/brazing a washer on the end of some round rod of the correct size.

And when the snapped pin came out it had a bend in the middle so I don’t think the holes can be aligned cuz I tried shoving a thic nail in ther hole and it wouldn’t fit

You can learn quite a bit from the manual.  Here is the illustrated parts list from the link I posted.  Maybe it would help us determine what pin we’re talking about?

Typical roll pin (tension Pin). You can get a whole kit for $5

https://www.harborfreight.com/120-piece-roll-pin-storehouse-67591.html?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=425671841&campaignid=425671841&utm_content=1165483352453450&adsetid=1165483352453450&product=67591&store=&msclkid=45913633c4581508f7a054fe00d72812

Think they're 1/4" roll pins. Sometimes you can just knock out the old pieces with the new pin as you tap it in.

The thing is that the holes are not aligned which is probably why the pin had a bend in the middle

Then someone redrilled it. The holes should all line up to hold the block to the steering shaft. It needs to go straight through the whole thing.

Disconnect the steering link and turn it so you can get to it from the bottom. The hole will face down
