dirtywheel 0 #1 Posted July 7, 2009 took the horses in the parade on the 4th of July...me and my son...I have a 61 suburban with a 4 hp kohler he has a B82 with 8hp B&S... I was pulling away from him in third gear and he was in third also....are the b83's that much slower?? i changed the belt thinking i had some slippage, but no diffrence?? whats the story?? Rideawaysenior 25 #2 Posted July 7, 2009 All in the gearing. The Suburban has a unidrive transaxle in it and his B series has the aluminum peerless or foote rear end. Even the bigger tractors with the 8 speeds would have different drive speeds. The four pinion was 5.3mph and the 8 pinion was 5.5 mph. If you had an earlier hydro with the eaton 1100 or the sundstrand, you could see as much as 7mph out of your machine. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
