Jose 11 #1 Posted June 26, 2022 Hey… Just wondering if anybody has purchased ignition coil from Amazon?
lynnmor 7,705 #2 Posted June 26, 2022 That is higher priced than most but maybe the correct price for Canada. In the description it mentions points, I believe you have a P220G that has no points so know what you are buying. Those Chinese kits are sold multiple places and usually work well. Be aware that it is not a direct fit and will need a small amount of work to install. If the instructions aren’t clear, some are not, report back for better information. 2

pacer 3,176 #4 Posted June 27, 2022 You can get the exact thing on the bay for a fair amount less (thirtyish$?) I just got one for my B43 (looks Identical) works great!

Jose 11 #6 Posted June 27, 2022 I’m in Canada I got a pay a little bit more But no big deal like cheaper than buying from the dealer that’s for sure… Pacer Did you say that you got the exact same as the one that I had posted in the pic there?
lynnmor 7,705 #7 Posted June 27, 2022 Again, be sure if what you are ordering. Do you have an older engine with points, they take a different coil than the solid state ignition.
Jose 11 #8 Posted June 27, 2022 Lynnmor This is the one I had taken out…
pacer 3,176 #9 Posted June 27, 2022 OK, that IS different from the B-43's so guess that answered that! The one in the earlier pic is the coil I got for for the B43.
Jose 11 #10 Posted June 27, 2022 That’s my old one in the the 2 pics You know that right?
Jose 11 #12 Posted June 27, 2022 ? Did I get the wrong ignition coil? Now I’m confused on if I got the right one or not 🤦🏻♂️ New one on the left of the pic old one on the right..
pacer 3,176 #13 Posted June 27, 2022 The one on the left is the one I got for my B48, replacing the exact same one that came on it (before I left the key on!!!) The one on the right is quite a bit different.
lynnmor 7,705 #14 Posted June 27, 2022 (edited) The old style is no longer available, all of the new ones will be the rounded shape and will need a bit of work to make them fit. You cannot tell by looking at them if they are correct, they are for a points engine or a solid state engine, just get the correct one. I believe that you have an engine without points, you tell us. The ads you are posting make no sense. Edited June 27, 2022 by lynnmor
Jose 11 #15 Posted June 27, 2022 71-6000 COIL-BATTERY IGNITION Thank you for having the patience to help me out
lynnmor 7,705 #16 Posted June 28, 2022 That engine has no points. When buying a coil for it the description should not say it is for a points type ignition. These aftermarket coils have descriptions that may not be accurate, you need to take your best guess on what they are selling. If you buy from Amazon it can be returned if it isn’t right. Check the coil with an ohmmeter using the Onan Service Manual and return it if it reads wrong.
