how to identify this tractor

Recommended Posts

i hauled this in from a sale a couple weeks ago.i mostly grabbed it for the wheels and tires because it went cheap.it used to have a hit and miss engine on it i was told.they modified the frame rails, changed the pulley/belt drive system, added a home made dash, steering support etc.it has no hood either.it does have 3 lug rear wheels.im hoping someone can give me a good guess on the year.im thinking 63 based on the front axle and 3 lug rears. vintagegardentractors007.jpgvintagegardentractors009.jpgvintagegardentractors010.jpgvintagegardentractors008.jpg

Jim, I'd say there's not much left identifiable about that one beyond saying it's a 63/64. 64 Wheel Horses (604/654/704) still had 3 lug hubs too, but they also had two spoke steering wheels. I'd lean toward 63 myself with the three spoke steering wheel. You might be able to narrow it to 63 for certain if you can find any evidence of a welded battery tray, or bolt holes for the 64 battery tray. ( I see a pair of holes, but they don't look like they're in the right spot to me) :thumbs2: Beyond that, I think all model unique identifying parts have been removed/modified.

I vote 63 due to steering wheel and front axle, 64 models with 3 lugs had a entire different frame.... beyond that its anybodys guess!! :thumbs2:

thanks Jason and Michael.i bought i mostly for the wheels and tires but after i got it home i noticed the trans seems to shift nice and debated on setting it aside to watch for the parts i would need.
