New horse

I just picked up a 68 Commando 6 with mower deck and WH trailer. It has a newer H60 on it but only manual start. Can this be set up for Electric start? I have a few H60 motors with starters but not sure if they will fit the newer motor.

I imagine I will have to change Flywheel also?

I will post pics later.

Thanks

Joe

yes it can be changed to electric, if your fimilar with these motors it pretty simple with a donor electric start engine. or engines..

I might forget something but here goes..things to change or ADD

Change flywheel

Change engine shroud

Add electric starter motor

Now that should make it start, if you want the battery to charge

Change the complete ignition system under the flywheel..the electric starts have 2 charging coils attached to it with three wire running to the rectifier (or plastic fuse box)

Add the Rectifer or (plastic fuse box)

Add battery box and battery and wire it up!

You may need another switch also

I think thats it, but i probably forgot something, I always do :thumbs2:

Just changing those three things dont mean it will start! :thumbs2: But it will however roll over!! Sounds like you got a nice project on your hands.

Thanks guys, I just knew it could be done. Noe all I have to do is decide which motor to sacrifice for the transplant operation.

It already runs great but I hate pull starts.

I saw that tractor when I went to purchase my mowing deck.It looks like it had an electric starter on the the original engine. It may have had a starter/generator. I wanted to buy it, but didn't have the extra cash on hand. Good luck
