belts.

do i need wheel horse belts, ive been told by a few that i do.

i just keep burning the spindle belts up on the lawn ranger. wondering if i might need a larger diameter belt. i got one from napa to replace the original, and that one wore and streched enough to warrant getting a smaller one to take up and keep some of the adjustment, now the smaller one is wore and streched enough that it too is at the end of the idler adjustment. i can usually only get one or two mows out of a belt.

Bite the bullet and get an OEM belt, I'm sure for the cost of 2 or 3 napa belts you can get one. The OEM's are made specifically for your application.

NAPA sells both automotive belts and Kevlar dry OPE belts. The automotive belts are for emergency use only (e.g. if you need to get the lawn mowed NOW and can't get an OPE belt.

I would get the OEM belt and have it measured. When it wears out you can but a proper OPE belt.

There's a guy on ebay now that has quite a few WH belts if you know your PN. I just bought one lastnight. Can't wait to get it in.

Does this Lawn Ranger have a 2-blade timed deck?

Perhaps there is a problem with the deck causing extra friction :thumbs2: ?

what about the belt that runs the tranny? i need to replace that one too, and shes not fun to put on. should they all be wh belts?

You can always go to TSC or any farm supply and measure the old one and then get the same if not next size smaller. The kevlar belts are great too, the blue colored belts I've ran for a few years.

On my C-111 I have been using 5/8" belts from PTO to deck. I see

only now in the owner's manual for all atach-a-matic decks that 1/2"

belts are called for. Is there any advantage of one over the other

given equal grade or quality? 5/8" belts have given good service

so I wonder if I'm missing something.

I've been burning through pto belts on my 416, just last a year. Finally went to Napa to get a new one and realized I've been using a 1/2 belt, when I should have been using a 5/8th. The new belts doesn't slap around as much, rides flush with the top of the pulley and doesn't chirp when I put the pto down.

I recommend using WH belts, get them from Toro, especially for the drive. I just needed to finish the lawn so I went to Napa.
