Racerguy 1 #1 Posted May 29, 2022 I believe the carb idle circuitry is plugged.
953 nut 59,737 #2 Posted May 29, 2022 Sounds like you have diagnosed the problem well. First thing to ask is are you running gas with ethanol in it? If you are the please stop. Ethanol has been known to kill the fuel systems on small engines. You can find stations that sell ethanolfree gas on this site https://www.pure-gas.org/ I would suggest you buy an aerosol can of carburetor cleaner, remove the idle screw, put on your safety glasses and place the little extension directly in the opening giving it a couple of short sprays. Let is soak a few minutes and then repeat. Put the screw back in, run it in all the way and then back it out one and a half turns. Start the engine and with the air filter removed at about half throttle spray a bit of cleaner into the air inlet, let the RPMs recover and repeat a few times. Follow this up by adding some SeaFoam or Berrymans fuel additive to your ethanolfree gas at a rate of four ounces per gallon for the first tank full and then one ounce per gallon thereafter. 1
peter lena 9,231 #3 Posted May 29, 2022 @Racerguy welcome , ever check your fuel tank for debris ? , I have a large fuel filter close to tank ,under seat frame area , another fuel filter close to carb, if I use an aerosol carb cleaner I also use my hand to assist total carb intake block , and hand throttle to pull that cleaner thru, that usually helps it out . agree with @ 953nut , on the fuel additives. doing a fuel tank control valve swap is relatively easy , usually less than $ 7 , that will show you what's in there , use a dielectric grease , on installation of that tank grommet ,valve swap , makes it easy . think the collective debris in your tank is the probable issue . also went to clear vinyl fuel rated line. don't believe in the ethanol free gas , just my own opinion. regularly add STA BIL to al my fuels , no debris or start / run issues . good luck with it , keep in touch , pete
