upstateyankee50 59 #1 Posted May 10, 2022 to all of the guys that set replies back as to the correct size motor on the one that was picked up yesterday I want to thank you guys as today I was able to find the model number on the shroud ;it is HH80-110112D ;I am not sure if that D is in fact correct as it faded though it could be a 0 so if I am correct here it is a 8 horse ;in time it will be up and running as the seller used a car battery to get it to start but it only ran on the spray from a bottle but that is good ;and he did tell me that the carb will need to be rebuilt ;odd really that in the 2nd picture you can see he made a box to hold the battery in but that is going to be removed ;people do funny things at times ;as he has the ground side attached to the rear frame and the hot wire to the rectifier not sure if that should be that way; the thing is to get the motor to start and stay running that's the plan but as we know Rome wasn't built in a day the thing is that I bought it thinking I could use that motor in my charger 10 which is still giving me issues but that would look a little odd a 8 horse on a charger 10 so I might just to have to leave it as it is and get it running and mow with it again thanks guys
Handy Don 15,256 #2 Posted May 10, 2022 Yep, HH80 is an 8 hp engine. HH indicates it is a heavier duty model that was usual for the larger WH tractors. Depending on what you want to use your tractor for, 8hp may be an adequate engine.
ebinmaine 75,832 #3 Posted May 10, 2022 I'm not aware of any Wheelhorse tractors that used the Tecumseh 8 HP engines. Seems to me I'd leave that tractor as a whole and FIX the engine in the 10 horse. Not replace it. If it runs with a spray of gas it'll run on its own somehow. Good luck with this new one.
