Rear blade mod

Recommended Posts

Goldnboy

I had been wanting to use a rear mount blade for some time on my clevis hitch.  Now I know that brinly makes new ones but they all seem to...light weight to me.  Then one day I came across this blade on marketplace. It was a sears 3pt and with then being a proprietary hitch I thought I would give it some new life.

I started out with disassembly and grabbed my sawzall and Carbide tipped blade and had some fun with this piece.

When the fun was over (which I am sure some Sears guys are upset at me) it was ready for the next step.

Since I don't have a welder at home I took me a few weeks to find a guy to accomplish the next phase.  I found a nice welder a older man about in his 70's that was more than happy to weld this up and took a break from watching a baseball game in his shop. I think the old timer did a outstanding job. Now I have a brinly hitch on here that can be used on any brand tractor.

Since this was a Sears should I repaint it white frame  and black blade? Or should I go with red frame and black blade?

Your tractor, your blade, your choice.

But, the official Red Square forum answer will be RED. :D

Well red and black it is...I will let it dry a while before assembly.

Here is pictures of final assembly.

Note I repurchased the 3 pt arms to hold my gym weight plates to add as needed.

It had to rain overnight so can't try it out yet.

You should be able to remove the weight peg and blade from your rear mount. Getsome  3/4" round stock for the mid hitch and a little more steel and fab a mid grader out of that as well.
