18 Auto PTO Bracket Assembly-102930

Recommended Posts

I have listed a post about the parts required for this PTO Lever Assembly. I have been using roll pins on the one pivoting bracket to clutch engage rod. I just rebuilt it today and everything works beautifully. However, the roll pin is already starting to weaken and there is slop. This is unacceptable! yet another group of parts not found in the manual. Anyone have a good idea what to replace this pin with? Maybe a solid piece of steel rod?

Was that a single layer spring pin?  Wheel Horse used a lot of two layer spirol pins.

The spirol pin is built by coiling spring stock two layers thick.  A spring pin is a piece of spring steel a single layer thick coiled into a circle with the ends butted together.

The spirol pin is stronger.  Check your local hardware store parts bins, though the general selection usually does notice them. McMaster-Carr stocks them, maybe a NAPA dealer has them.  A Toro dealer might stock them.

Good luck.

So, are these 5/32? That is what I was looking up that spiral is stronger. I buy these 4 it'd be 20. bucks! So, yes, Napa usually has good parts. Thanks, greatly appreciated

Wheel Horse often drove a second pin inside the first when more strength was needed.

Look up spirol.  I think it is the company that invented the two layer pin.

Double single layer roll pins.

Like a 5/32 & 1/16 or 5/64? I read the larger pin first. Anyway, trying to drive a second pin, well it may begin to push the first one out, tight quarters in that dash. What about a 5/32 x 1-1/4" steel dowel pin? Thanks, I did go with the double roll pin started with 5/32 x 1-1/4, and the 64th to follow, fit great and pressed in smoothly with a socket & 3/8 extension, screwdriver over the pin and brass hammer. Then finished up with pin punches.
