The 1" diameter crankshafts were used on the B&S engines, 8hp Kohler engines and the first 10hp Kohler models.

The rest used 1-1/8" diameter crankshafts.

I do not know how that step in the shaft will affect that. Is it 1-1/8" diameter?

Could one use the 1-1/8" transmission drive pulley with the 1" pto inner race?

This engine has a thrust bearings to support a manual pto but do not know if the engine case is strong enough so an electric clutch may be necessary.

Great thanks for your alls input.I have a 71 800 special with a similar Briggs  a 71 that Is original to this WH.

Ill have to look but I don’t believe  it has the taper at the end.and Not sure if it’s going to be long enough.

My thought was to use manual PTO and the Gen start .I’m thinking I could swap everything over from the old Briggs to the new engine.

Pic of the ,engine I want to replace .

I use it to cut grass, still runs, knocks and smokes like crazy only a matter of time 💥.It’s already been bored out has a 0.30 piston in it.

The other motor is bran new with no hrs on it.

I know the 800 specials aren’t highly sought after with the peerless trans and all, mainly grass cutter but it really is one of my favorite tractors to cut the lawn with and the trans works fine.
