Broken steering wheel

I have a 312 – 8 wheel horse tractor 1986, I need a steering wheel ,mine is broken...

You could call or email A-Z Tractor, located down in the venders section. Good man to deal with. I've bought serval used parts there and they were all good.

Looks bent. Is it “broke” as well? As in, does not function? If just bent, I’m thinking it could be bent back…?

     It still works, I can use it, but it's like half of it is real loose, the other half is stiff, it must have broke inside the plastic, there must be metal inside or something..

Yep, plastic molded around metal. Likely the inner bar is broken on one side.

Check in our vendor section. At least a couple of them are likely able to fix you up with a new one.

Also, search for some of the old threads that discuss removing these steering wheels--they use a roll pin and if they are rusted...well, they can be tough to remove!

Take the center cap off and start soaking the shaft and spiral pin with penetrating oil.  Consider installing a 15", 3 spoke wheel from a 417 if you can get one.  I like the feel of the larger wheel and it makes steering easier.

If its that bad......just cut the center and remove it....then the pin will be easy to deal with. I have a wheel if you want to buy one.   There are a few on Stealbay   also. 

 

Bill D has a way to make new tubes also....the part under the steering wheel
