stevasaurus 23,276 #2 Posted April 5, 2022 There is a 1 piece cam and there is a 2 piece cam. If you pull up the Kohler Manual out of the Manual section on the main page, it will explain it. It is also in the code for your engine. I'm thinking you want to use the same type cam if you are rebuilding, but you might be able to interchange the two...not positive about that. It is all about the ACR with the one piece and the (spark advance ??) with the 2 piece. I have just given you enough information to make you dangerous. Others will hop in here to correct me, but the information is in the Kohler Manual.
squonk 43,778 #3 Posted April 5, 2022 (edited) If you swap cams you need the correct exhaust tappet to the cam you're using. Kohler shows the A-230155-S cam on the early k161's. If your cam that's original to the engine your working on has the 2 piece cam I believe you can use the tappet that is in the engine. 2 piece cams on both engines use a 230013 tappet. Looks like Before suffix J are 2 piece cam engines on K161 Edited April 5, 2022 by squonk
