Walhonding520 25 #1 Posted April 5, 2022 Unfortunately, I am selling my 520h. Sad because I remember when my grandfather bought it. Anyway... It has a broken rod. Everything else was working great when it broke. I want to sell it as a parts tractor but I have no idea what to ask for it in classifieds. I want to be fair and just need a starting price. It also has a side discharge 42" deck that works and the mule drive that I would like have no problem selling separate. What should I price the tractor, deck and mule drive all for? Thanks in advance
ri702bill 9,511 #2 Posted April 5, 2022 Sorry to hear the situation, but, pictures would be helpful - a 520 H is a desirable tractor to many ...
Sparky-(Admin) 23,256 #3 Posted April 5, 2022 The 1988-1989 models are worth less than the 1990 models…which are worth less than the 1991 and up models. All had to do with the front axle and steering setup. Any idea what year?
Walhonding520 25 #4 Posted April 7, 2022 (edited) It is an '89. Other than the rod, it has had zero issues. Some paint peeling or some surface rust on the deck, but other than that, it's in great shape for the age. I'm not looking to get rich off of it, but I have no use for it anymore and I can use the money on other things. It's dirty because I just put it in the shed right after it broke down. I'll clean it up before I post it. Hyrdo is still strong and other than some surface rust, some paint peeling and the normal wear, the deck and mule drive have no problems. Greased very regularly and bearing still turn good. It mowed my yard every week. Edited April 7, 2022 by Walhonding520

WHX?? 51,864 #6 Posted April 7, 2022 (edited) It's worth more in parts than a whole tractor but to sell by parts is a real PIA. Looks like it doesn't have swept & I am seeing rust holes in the deck in the usual spots so that would need to be refurbed. Truth be told a tractor like someone is going to buy it for one or a couple of parts and get the rest of the tractor for free. Id'd say 300 but wouldn't turn down 200. Been in your situation before Wal with a bad Onan and axles and hated it. Repair worth more than the tractor & ended up parting it out for spare parts for the rest of my 520 herd. All's well that ends well tho, Helped out & made some good friends with some parts. Edited April 7, 2022 by WHX??
Walhonding520 25 #7 Posted April 7, 2022 I'm going to list the deck and tractor separate at least. I know the picture looks like the deck has rust because I haven't cleaned it yet, but its solid still. I don't want the hassle of parting it otherwise, so a few hundred is fine with me. I actually just want to buy a small welder with what I get for it. Am I crazy asking $300 for the tractor and asking $300 for the deck (there are a few in my are on marketplace asking more for decks in worse condition)? I don't have to get those prices but just starting points.
