snowhound 105 #1 Posted April 2, 2022 Picked up a 417-8 that doesn't have any spark I don't know what year it is and the tag is to faided to read, it does have test lights. I've replaced the points and still no spark is there a way to test the coil. I've been trying to start it by using a remote starter switch to bypass the safety switches because when I turn the ignition to run the low oil light flashes but there is oil in it so I assume the switch is bad. midpack 992 #3 Posted April 2, 2022 I bet it's that low oil switch. I had a Magnum 12 that had the same problem with the switch and plenty of oil. I found the connector and made a jumper to complete the circuit. I always check the oil before using anything, so I don't need a light. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The oil light flashing would be because there is no oil pressure yet. The single cylinder models used the oil level float switch to trigger the oil light.
