While you are cleaning the deck it would benefit you greatly to clean the debris that collects inside of these cups: I have a thread on here somewhere that shows what NOT cleaning them will do to the housing. It eventually wears down the bottom of the spindle as far as the bottom C-clip and at that point the C-clip falls out and the housing is toast. nataliator 18 #30 Posted March 28, 2022 Thanks everybody- so far so good - replaced all the belts, and got all the parts I needed to bring it back to baseline (except the seat, suckers are spendy!). Still got to dig into the oil light issue. While on that oil topic - does anyone with a 14hp Magnum get a low dipstick reading? I am not sure if maybe my dipstick is bent, or something else funny going on, but I know I put 2 full quarts in, and the dipstick reading is well below the minimum line. Doesn't matter if I check it cold or warm, I get a "full" stick for about 1/2" of the bottom of the stick, and then I just get residue/splashing it looks like on the edges up higher. Maybe that's normal? Do I dare top off the oil? Change it again and see what comes out? It's been ridden less than 1/2 hour since I changed the oil, and I am not getting smoke, or a mess on the ground, so I can't imagine its leaking or burning the oil away quick enough to get such a reading. The rear hubs on the 520H is next to the rear end housing and the hubs on the Work Horse are out from the housing. Tuneup 1,452 #36 Posted March 30, 2022 Those rears fit so they're good to keep, especially if you're thinking of plowing - adding 20 or more gallons of fluid to them will work wonders.
