You could have mine, if you were closer includes the rest of the starter and a full engine block 2
lynnmor 7,586 #3 Posted March 6, 2022 You can buy the whole drive on eBay for $22.48. If you have the starter number, Google for parts, the engine model number may not help much.

The engine sticker has long since faded to unreadable. It's gone now but we could only read "KT17" in the top right corner of the tag.

oliver2-44 10,380 #13 Posted March 6, 2022 I needed a spring for one of the starters I recently rebuilt. Took a spring from another starter and matched one up from the big spring display at the hardware store. Matched wire size, diameter and number of coils. The length was a tiny bit different. But that was just how stretched out the coils were. It works
ri702bill 9,020 #14 Posted March 6, 2022 McMaster Carr is a GREAT source for reasonably priced compression and extension springs, without having to buy 10 or 20 like other well-known spring suppliers - they usually sell in quantities of 5 or less. Match up the OD, wire diameter, overall length, type of ends and material - shows up at your door in a day or two. Bill
Bill D 2,103 #15 Posted March 7, 2022 Does anyone have a source for the plastic cap that goes over the Bendix spring. I have a couple of starters that are missing them.

None of the starters here have a cover. Production dates range from 1967 to 1986.
