Brian33 4 #1 Posted February 20, 2022 Hello, I recently acquired a 516H and it’s the first tractor I have owned with a fuel gauge. It is very handy as I quickly learned that the Onan VTwin does not give you much warning like the Kohler as do with throttling up and down as a sign of running out… they just shut off… and since the 516h has the Eaton 700 pump there is not a tow valve in it. So you are dead where you died. So as you can see the gauge is kind of a necessity however very hard to see at 4am when you are out plowing. Is there supposed to be a light in it and if not has anyone replaced theirs with a back kit gauge?

The hole may have a plug in it to keep out water and dirt. NAPA might be a source of a bulb socket, the factory bulb was a #53. If there is no way to add a bulb, then you could buy a gauge from someplace like A-Z Tractor. Connect the bulb to your headlight circuit. Onan is an opposed twin not a V twin.
