bds1984 1,499 #1 Posted February 18, 2022 I have a short chute snow blower on my C165 that works great... however, after using it in some deep, powdery snow, I quickly saw how difficult it was to aim the snow being thrown from my short chute model in a pattern that wouldn't blow back at me. I'd love to not wear as much snow after blowing snow, so I got to thinking about the tall chute models. Does the taller chute keep a tighter pattern like a full choke on a shotgun? Has anyone ever "upgraded" their short chute with a longer one?
roadapples 6,983 #2 Posted February 19, 2022 .blowers from Vertical shaft tractors can sometimes be bought cheap. Most of the parts interchange. The tall chute will bolt right on. You can also add rubber to the horizontal part in the center of the auger. That helps. Also, when I'm in an area, like going out my lane where I don't have to through it as far, I lower the deflector. This helps keep it from blowing around so much....
SPINJIM 1,986 #3 Posted February 19, 2022 If the snow is powdery, they all blow it back at you if the wind is wrong. For LESS powdery snow, the little adjustable chute at the top of the tall chute, helps a little. I have had both. I only have tall chute now because it's on a 2-stage, and throws the snow farther.
