dmoore 962 #3 Posted February 18, 2022 I would like to know what has to be removed in order to get the lower steering shaft out. I looked at those manuals but just saw wiring related info.

dmoore 962 #9 Posted February 18, 2022 I guess my main concern is if the front axle has to be removed in order to remove that shaft?

roadapples 6,983 #12 Posted February 18, 2022 Front axle doesn't need to be removed but you will have to tilt the engine. Remove 2 bolts and loosen the other 2. It's a bit of a pain, but you don't have to remove wires, fuel lines etc.... 2
ri702bill 9,511 #13 Posted February 18, 2022 While you are in there - check the condition of the mounting tabs on the lower steering support - if the tractor was ever used for plowing, they may be broken. Also check the frame plate for cracks around the 4 bolts where the Unidrive bolts on. You MAY need to adjust the number or thickness of shims behind the lower steering support to get the proper clearance between the gears. Bill
