Recommended Posts

WHILE USING MY 520 XI IVE NOTICED THE HYDRO LIFT IS VERY LOUD.

EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT, ITS JUST LOUD. IT HAD A NEW FILTER PUT ON IT THIS LAST SUMMER I WAS TOLD. ANY IDEAS ON WHAT I COULD DO?

Loud in what way?  Describe the noise... is it a whining noise?

Have you checked the fluid level?

 Can't hear the hydro lift of my c175 over the engine. Curious what the members have to say.

What color is the fluid on the dipstick under the seat?  Brown/tan or red?

:text-yeahthat: WIX 51410 or Napa 1410 are the ways to go :handgestures-thumbupright:

It’s making a whining sound. The fluid is a clear golden color, the filter is correct.

SOME whining could be considered normal.  I've noticed that mine all whine a little if the RPMs aren't high enough.

Is the hydro motor on the transmission clean?  Does any noise change after the transmission is warmed up?  Fluid level is where it should be?

Fluid is good and I don’t notice any noise from the rear end just from the lift

The whine in Eaton-based hydro lifts that I've seen often comes from the relief valve. Once the lift cylinder has reached "end of travel" in either direction, the fluid pressure rises very quickly so to protect the pump that valve opens to allow the fluid to circulate around the lift cylinder. The very rapid flow of fluid can vibrate the valve and make quite a whine.

The other source of whine is during a lift or drop and it comes from the control valve being opened only a small amount. Again--fast fluid vibrates the valve and ... whine!

The valve on the 520-H's is part of the control valve. I don't know where it is on the 520xi.

So the question is, is your lift whining during the lift/drop or at the end before you release the lever? Are you trying to feather the control?

So it is when it reaches the top of lift and before I release the handle to stop lifting

Always believed it to be normal operation.

All of mine do it too.

I consider that the 'alarm' to let me know when to release the lift handle!

The manual for the 1100 say to allow up to 10 minutes run time in below freezing weather before actuating or damage may result. Not sure if that's meant to include hydraulics or not.

My 520-H won't lift anything for 2-3 minutes after cranking, and that's in warm weather. It's the strongest Eaton tranny I've ever owned and it still does it. I'm guessing cold weather takes several minutes to prime and pressurize.

Mine won't lift for several minutes in 90 degree weather!

Takes a few to prime the charge pump.

Mine whines, and when I reach “end of travel” the pitch of the whine changes slightly .
