Engine "Tilting" with PTO

I've been trying to do a better once over of the three horses this winter before mowing season this year. We have a little one on the way in may, so the less time I spend fixing stuff and the more time I spend just mowing with these this summer, the better. I noticed on one of my horses after going over all of the pulleys/belts and sharpening blades that when you turn the PTO on, the entire engine tilts back towards the driver. This is on a K341 sitting on an old shaker plate with the rubber mounts, they don't even touch metal on both sides and seem useless. As many of you know from some of my other threads, all 3 mowers have had engine transplants. I have a K series mounted to some sort of fabricated flat stock steel, it's lower than it should be and I have an idler pulley in the belt guard but it works. I have a magnum on a K series shaker plate but with washers and no bushings and it's fine.

 

The problem is the factory one but I'm not sure what to replace it with. The engine literally will tilt a good inch back when you turn the deck on, and I'd think that is not good for the PTO or thrust bearing or anything. Do you just take the plate bushings out one at a time and somehow "bolt" them directly to the plate so it can't move? I've found old threads with solid parts machined to fit in there but looks like those aren't available now.

Or do away with shaker plate and use 3/4 inch spacer and a couple washers like this. It will be in exact same location as shaker mount PTO.  You may have to drill 2 holes in the frame.  i did not but it is an older frame. Yo also have to source or make a lower PTO bracket that bolts to the frame.

The infamous anti vibration shaker plate.     One of the few bad ideas Wheel Horse engineers put into production.   Thankfully it didn't last long.

Solid ones are available. Just don’t seem to find the link at the moment. But you can also just stack washers… when tight it will do same thing…

The spacers i used in the picture above came from a shaker mount 8 hp K181.    #13  WH# 106340

Didnt cub, around the same time, go to their anti-vibe mounted K series engines?  They had problems also with the shaft drive, it pushed forward to engage the clutch, made fir a mushy pedal

True, but man they are slick arent they?  Im surprised they are so cheap, id expect 100+ just because of how few they must sell

Im sure they perform really well, they look CNC machined, right height, utilize the original 2 mount holes, definitely no deflection and no drilling holes.
