Shuboxlover 480 #1 Posted January 27, 2022 Hey all, I've got a D-200 I want to get running to test the hydro, engine etc.... it doesn't have a carb or intake elbow on it (didn't come with one when I bought it). Can I install a carb from a 417 (or similar) to get it running or do I need to get the intake elbow so I can hook up the governor tube as well? Thanks Tyson
Pullstart 66,690 #2 Posted January 27, 2022 I’d say for troubleshooting purpose you’d be just fine…. Even with no governor hooked up. Just don’t let it run away.
pacer 3,177 #3 Posted January 27, 2022 This is the 'elbow' that you would mount the air cleaner? You do have the manifold? If so, sure most anything will work to allow a 'down & dirty' check of the engine. I've taken a plastic bottle - water/pop, etc and poke a small hole in the cap and dribble fuel in, also, while WD40 aint good for very much, it will run an engine pretty well for a ck (lot better'n 'starter fluid, that stuff is .... not good) Sounds like you have going at a 'new' purchase similar to me - I like to determine - as much as possible - what/where to start. If engine starts/runs/dont knock/ sounds pretty good then go to the drive train and see if all that seems to function, If either one of these is -- iffy? then start there.....
