310-8 date code?

Recommended Posts

So I’ve always believed my 310-8 to be a 1988 model, but one of my friends who used to be a dealer said it would have Toro decals if that were the case.8CB2B339-7189-4D79-AD0B-A772A1D480C2.jpeg.937418eedc7d2b341199059c6be13022.jpegCC19BFAA-56BA-40DD-A950-7CCA53FD43B8.jpeg.d29b7a914311cbc3fa3ab92c9832291e.jpeg3A8A15A5-FA82-4F07-91C9-5A273A70E02B.jpeg.e17fd0de50c2bd2e738ceabd61c327e8.jpeg

It doesn’t have idiot lights like the newer models, and the rear fenders have been swapped over so the model and serial are now written inside the hood.

The model certification stamp says it meets 86 standards, so I’m a little at a loss what year it actually is. Would anyone have a reference guide that would help? Or does the engine have a date code hidden somewhere? It has a magnum 10 but god knows if that’s original either.

I found your model and serial number (2110K805-27916) listed in the reference section on this site under Wheel Horse manuals. It is listed as a 1988 model year. If you find the Kohler engine model, spec, & serial number decal (should be on the blower housing) that could indicate when it was manufactured also. -JD-

If the engine is a K241, it is 1986 or earlier. Magnum 10 models were used after 1987.

Not sure when the decals included Toro, but my 1987 had maroon Wheel Horse decals, and no Toro.

Not sure if that helps.

For what it's worth, my 1989 312-8 has Wheel Horse decals. My Dad's 1990 310-8 has the Toro decals.

None of the 10hp models had the row of indicator lights.

The 10hp models have a low oil light only.
