Retired Wrencher 5,695 #1 Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) I looked in engines manuals for the part# of a Stater solenoid for a K181. Cannot seem to find it. Thanks in advance. Edited January 8, 2022 by Retierd Wrencher
953 nut 58,979 #2 Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) Any lawn mower of garden tractor solenoid will get the job done. I prefer the old style FORD ones because they should last a lifetime. https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/311006_Starter-Solenoid_32639.htm?gclid=Cj0KCQiAieWOBhCYARIsANcOw0wef6wamDn9J_p_GYpzPDX9T0813PeH7y7Ud0H4oL98PnxayFj2noQaAsthEALw_wcB The "I" terminal will not be used on this unit and it is grounded internally so no ground wirer is needed. Retired Wrencher 5,695 #3 Posted January 8, 2022 Thanks Rich. I was thinking the same thing. Napa sells a heavy duty one.

peter lena 9,175 #5 Posted January 8, 2022 @ RETIERD WRENCHER , agree with @ 953 nut , on the ford type , another thing , take advantage of the failure , and detail in the installation , like enhanced grounding / mounting bolt ,point. check out for any corrosion , dielectric grease at all connections. my experience doing that let me find other related connections , might even add a ground cable from battery ground cable bolt , to corner of engine to frame area . ensuring your electrics all get a solid ground . pete

Wheelhorse#1 1,767 #7 Posted January 9, 2022 (edited) I had good luck with these .Decent quality for the price. The key bypass start button on the top could come in handy.I bought two ,no problem with either so far. peter lena 9,175 #8 Posted January 9, 2022 @ RETIRED WRENCHER , have that main line ground set up on my 3 horses , set up on 1, worked out the bugs , verified operation and duplicated on the other 2 , battery cable dash area ground bolt , add a similar cable to engine / frame , next to clutch pedal . add BOLT ON ELECTRICAL LUG , this makes any other wire add on easily available , from lug with 10-12 ga wire to , rectifier mount bolts , and from there to , headlight grounding , simple ? this main line ground set up has eliminated , my ground problems , of course if you have other corroded , fraying , shorted wires , cracked connectors , thats another issue . I eliminated those areas also , new wiring in WIRE WRAP , reroute tight chafing areas , my 3 horses are set up the same proven / tested way , consistent starts and strong running , isn't that what you want ? YOU HAVE TO GET FED UP WITH A PROBLEM TO ELIMINATE IT , thats how i look at a nagging issue , just some stuff i do , pete
