I tried starting the commando up today. Only runs on with squirt bottle. Pulled the inlet of carb rotated the line downward cranked over nothing. I see fuel in filter. Funny thing is it ran two weeks ago when I bought this. All I did was change fuel line and filter. The P.O. had the line straight off the tank on top of engine by the belt shield. Maybe a week pump if it was like this? Thanks in advance for any info. If pump, where can I buy a good one not plastic.

Did you pull the fuel line off the carburetor to see if it's actually pumping any fuel?

Bill here - all you MAY need to do is disassemble the metal fuel pump and clean any debris (read that as ethanol pearls) from the two check valves. Inspect the diaphragm, replace if needed -  be sure that both metal sealing surfaces are FLAT - good to go!!

Run the fuel line direct from the tank and forget the pump.  Just keep the tank more than half full  she will run.

Did you run the fuel line high up on engine for gravity feed.

I worse comes to worse put an electric pump on. I believe the OE pump is a vacuum operated one.

Thanks Mike. It is working. It has been a while for these old Start/gen`s for me You have to prime the carb to fill the bowl. I forgot about that.
