Dave 1953 70 #1 Posted December 18, 2021 I recently purchased a GT14 and a previous owner did some repainting and failed to put the data plate back on, Is there any other way to determine which year model it is other than the missing plate? Dave
stevasaurus 23,274 #2 Posted December 18, 2021 A couple of pictures would help. The numbers off the engine can narrow it down also.
953 nut 59,726 #3 Posted December 19, 2021 If the cast iron front grill where the fuel tank sticks out it is a 1969. Engine Spec Number for 1969, 1970 and 1971 is 60125B, for 1971 the number is 60149A. No noteworthy changes occurred after the front grill opening was made a part of the casting in 1970.
Dave 1953 70 #4 Posted December 19, 2021 OK, gents. I will post some pics of the tractor & engine and hopefully we can figure this out.
Dave 1953 70 #5 Posted December 20, 2021 OK gents, here are some oics of the GT14 I picked up a week or so ago and as the data plate is missing I don't know what year it is, Someone mentioned something about the grill and the engine plate. If it's there I can't find it and being blind don't help either. Either the tag is missing off the engine too, it's painted over and maybe I just cant see it. It's almost like someone wanted to destroy it's identity like filing the s/n off of a gun. I took a couple pics of the tiller and disc and I maxed out my MB so I will have to post again to finish the pics. If anyone has any idea as to what year it is let us know. Dave 1953 70 #6 Posted December 20, 2021 Another pic of the bottom of the tiller complete with copious amounts of NC dirt plus the little 3 pt. hitch plow

Dave 1953 70 #8 Posted December 21, 2021 OK, we'll call it a 1970. That suits me. Thanks
