jtrosp1980 89 #1 Posted December 7, 2021 Does anyone know if these tires would fit a raider 10 on the front tires
Maxwell-8 4,366 #2 Posted December 7, 2021 (edited) First off a 6pl rating is quite high, and will cause a bumpy ride second off, I think they are to small for the 5" wide rim Correction: they are to narrow for your rim I would at least go 5.5 or 6 wide not 4.80 stock was 5.5 as stated by tractordata, on mine, they were 6.5 Edited December 7, 2021 by Maxwell-

jtrosp1980 89 #8 Posted December 7, 2021 I know they don't make a 16×5.5-
jtrosp1980 89 #9 Posted December 7, 2021 (edited) They are the original ones 16×5.5×8 Edited December 7, 2021 by jtrosp1980
Maxwell-8 4,366 #10 Posted December 7, 2021 I have 16x6.5-8 on mine. the rims are 5" wide, so you can't go below that. Probably other members have an different input, so let's wait for them to join.
8ntruck 7,395 #11 Posted December 7, 2021 The width of a rim is measured between the surfaces that hold the tire, not the overall outside to outside width of the rim. Rim flanges are generally in the neighborhood of 1/2". So, if you measured the overall width of a 5.5" rim, it would be close to 6.5".

Early models had a front rim that was more narrow but still ran the 16-5.50-8 tire. These are 4.00 - 8's on the front of my '68 Raider. 3 2

killroy 35 #15 Posted December 7, 2021 (edited) 2 ply tires are junk in my opinion. Even pine needles will puncture them. I always go with the heavier ply tires. I don't like flats Edited December 7, 2021 by killroy

I don't like flats quality tires are important, chinese junk tires are indeed very know to puncture, like on wheel barrows. I have 3 Wheel Horses all original tires, all 2 plys, not a single one has ever been punctured. but they are USA made tires. I have 6 ply 16x 6.50x 8 on my C-120/180 I would never put less then 4 plys on any of my Wheel Horses. Did I say I hate 2 ply tires. The 6 plys will roll right over things that will cause the 2 plys to fold up. Edited December 8, 2021 by Lee1977

The one Horse I had with 6ply, the tires had 0 air in them. still looked like their was 25psi in them I ordered some atv tires, which are always 6ply. These days ply-rating stands for weight capacity, and not the amount of "ply's" used. What tire pressure do you use? lynnmor 7,577 #20 Posted December 8, 2021 I use rubber tire chains on my 520H with a 44" snow thrower. Today I swapped out the squared off four ply turfs with the original two ply rounder turf tires. After taking a beating for several years from the stiff tires, I am done with using the rubber chains with stiff tires. I had to hold the speed way down to save the tractor, cab and the fillings in my teeth.

The 6 plys if I can feel it move in a little with the back of my hand it's the way I like them. Don't have a air gage that will check below 10 lbs. As for chains I don't need them, snow is usually gone in a couple of days. All the rear tires on my Wheel Horses are 4 ply.
jtrosp1980 89 #22 Posted December 8, 2021 What I would like to do is stay with the original but trying to find them not dry rotten and cracked has been a nightmare I'm at the point of giving up and get something
Maxwell-8 4,366 #23 Posted December 8, 2021 We are getting a bit finnicky maybe. I would just go for a 16x6.50-8 that you feel comfortable with. Higher ply's tend to be a bit more expensive. 1 hour ago, jtrosp1980 said: What I would like to do is stay with the original but trying to find them not dry rotten and cracked has been a nightmare I'm at the point of giving up and get something
Snoopy11 5,717 #24 Posted December 8, 2021 I would like to add to @Maxwell-8's point here... As well as a rough ride... higher ply ratings will make the tires MUCH harder to put on and take off... Lower ply ratings will make them much more pliable. Don
