Can't see the video until I get home and have high-speed internet. Nice find. Give you something to do in the long winter.

I was able to stop for a minute when I had better signal. Looks like that thing is a good solid original.

I've heard the same thing about that type of thin three spoke steering wheel.

I had one that was similar if not identical on the 1267 at one point.

From the experiences I've had on removing engine pulleys like that one, the biggest challenge is to get an appropriate grip on the pulley itself. If you can use a two-piece bearing separator to get behind it that might be helpful. Also, knowing you're going to replace the seal behind there don't be afraid to heat that pulley up some.

Keep us posted on how things go.....

Nice unit. I like the patina!

Is that a cigarette lighter?

I will gently try heating it up and anything else to get it off. Maybe lots of PB Blaster. Also have very large chisels to use as wedges for the gentle touch.

I’m glad it ended up in your garage Gary…I know you’ll take care of her!
Really looking forwards to updates as you tackle each problem.
I totally know what you mean by the cool sound the old starter/gen tractors make when ya hit the key.

That’s a beautiful commando. I have one here that’s actually not mine. I should try to make it stay here. I’m sure Alex would love another project.

Thanks for the reply WHGuy. I have been working on it every day for a few hours. I think in a week or two I will have it done. This one went quick. I see you are just up the road from me. Glade to see more from this area.

I didn’t even look to see where you were from til just now. That is pretty awesome. There are a few of us Horse guys in Western Mass. I love the patina your commando has. It’s amazing what these little 7-8hp tractors can do. I have a soft spot for them.

I only use Marvel on the paint or what is left of it. I will post a video when done. Do you go to the shows up here?  Like Orange and Bernardston?

I go to the bernardston show almost every year. I used to go camp and do the whole weekend. Since I switched jobs that is one of 2 mandatory weekends at work so I usually only get one day. I have never been to Orange. My boys play a lot of baseball in the spring/summer/fall so I miss a lot of shows. I know Wayne Rugg is always at Orange. There is also a fairly new show in Greenfield at the fair grounds called the Retired Iron show. That’s a nice up and coming show.
