Snoopy11 5,718 #1 Posted November 27, 2021 Hey guys, I mentioned this in the "What have you done to your Wheel Horse today" thread. But I thought it is a good idea to go into a little more detail of what I did today. So... I have an adjustable timing flywheel on my 457... which I had previously set conservatively. I had 34 degrees of advance. What I did, is put in 6 more degrees of advance after talking to ARC Racing a couple of days ago. I did attempt more timing advance, however, the cylinder head temp went up WAY too high. I could run more timing advance in a competition environment, however, as a working tractor, I do not think that more advance is reliable. Obviously, I had to rejet the carb... which I hate doing... but the end result was well worth it. I am posting this, just in case other guys try something like this in the future with these racing engines. It can be done, but I would not go higher than 40 degrees of advance, outside of competitions. Don
Snoopy11 5,718 #2 Posted November 27, 2021 Oh, and just in case anyone is wondering... I did change cams since my last videos, thus why its idle does indeed sound different than my previous videos. DOn

Snoopy11 5,718 #5 Posted November 27, 2021 I would also say, it runs much smoother up through the powerband... Don
