Lagersolut 733 #1 Posted November 24, 2021 In the process of replacing the starter on the 416-8 - Just curious if this would be the original starter - still have one I’d like to try and restore sometime off a C 121 - Bosch is the manufacture of that one . Did some reading around seems this company got into some financial trouble in the early 90’s . 10 tooth gear has too much slop on the shaft - it’s wrapping the flywheel . gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,358 #3 Posted November 24, 2021 45-098-09 on the label is a Kohler part number. 45-098-01 was used in 1977 C-160 Automatic 16 H.p. Engine K341s, Spec 71128a I don't see where the 09 replaced the 01 https://www.partstree.com/models/k341-71128-kohler-k-series-engine-made-for-wheel-horse-16hp-11-9kw/

Original from 1982 . Edited November 24, 2021 by Lagersolut
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,358 #5 Posted November 24, 2021 I would thick it has been replaced. Tech Auto used the original Kohler number to keep it simple. Wish more would do that.
Gregor 4,847 #6 Posted November 24, 2021 (edited) This is from the Kohler service manual, page 8.20. I just worked on a K341S. It had special bolts. From The Kohler parts book From Partstree I don't believe this is an ordinary, standard, 3/8-16 X 1 1/8" bolt. Mine isn't.
