K341 Starter Question

Recommended Posts

Lagersolut

In the process of replacing the starter on the 416-8 - Just curious  if this would be the original starter - still have one I’d like to try and restore sometime off a C 121 - Bosch is the manufacture of that one .

Did some reading around seems this company got into some financial trouble in the early 90’s .

10 tooth gear has too much slop on the shaft - it’s wrapping the flywheel .

The starter looks good.

I know my starter is brand new.. Can't help you on that.

45-098-09 on the label is a Kohler part number.

45-098-01 was used in 1977 C-160 Automatic

16 H.p. Engine K341s, Spec 71128a

I don't see where the 09 replaced the 01

Thanks - the United Tech Auto sticker made me wonder if it was replaced at some point .

Original from 1982 .

I would thick it has been replaced. Tech Auto used the original Kohler number to keep it simple. Wish more would do that.

This is from the Kohler service manual, page 8.20.  I just worked on a K341S. It had special bolts.

I don't believe this is an ordinary, standard, 3/8-16 X 1 1/8" bolt. Mine isn't.
