Maxwell-8 4,367 #1 Posted November 20, 2021 My c175, was needed yesterday, so I did rewire on it. Came out to start it today. the coil is not working. I left the cables on the coil. coil gets 12v. points and condenser are getting power trough the coil. plugs are good. Tried some sparkplug cables I know work. Still no spark Bought the engine running, and tested here a couple of weeks ago. previous owner just had a new coil installed... Is it true these are Harley Davidson coils? edgro 680 #3 Posted November 21, 2021 I have had coil issues also on 417A, tried a couple different things, no luck. You can now get oe style coils for a reasonable price on *bay. Not saying thats the cure, as it is no spark again. On the other hand, my C175 has never had any problems

peter lena 9,255 #5 Posted November 21, 2021 @Maxwell-8 looking at your issue , leave nothing to chance, especially the RELATED GROUNDING DETAIL , verify each stage , for power and ground , use serrated washers and dielectric grease , small wire brush every bolt down or contact area .grease, insure your wire make up is solid , eliminate tight wiring and possible chafing , I regularly use a small " wire wrap " to contain and secure my wiring , to a support area. just an idea , that i follow , pete
pacer 3,177 #6 Posted November 21, 2021 Is it my imagination, or does a KT series have an .... appetite for coils/ignition?? Seems they pop up pretty often with problems. I had a 17 that I got for a song, because the guy couldnt get it to run, no spark. I had picked up a couple old Harley coils at a flea mkt for $5 and it started tight up. These were similar to conventional coils, just had 2 wire outlets. The coil youre showing is also the coil that is on the D series twins (18-20hp) From your description, seems you have cked all that I would have done, so I dont have any ides
