I stopped at TS this morning for some hardware and they had this out front.

I was in my pocket getting my credit card out when I read the fine print:

Wonder what one of these goes for?  "Hey Google" !

Mrs. Google says about $1800 or so with shipping.  You're right back into the new price territory and you have to do the labor to change the engine!  No bargain here.

Of course, if somebody had one, it might be worth it for the parts...

You wonder what happened to the motor...  Shipped with no oil and somebody tried to start it????

It’s also kind of funny that it has a Kohler on it yet the tag indicates it needs a new Kawasaki.

AMC RULES

Another awesome deal from corporate America.

Always sooo considerate of them, to pass the savings onto you.

If you are willing to lose a couple of ponies, a PREDATOR 22 HP (708cc) V-Twin Riding Mower Engine can be had for 1/2 that price. :twocents-twocents: Could make it a good deal yet.

Swapped out a Kohler with a Briggs on a Cub couple years ago.

Cub has some fancy wiring with a gagal of safety stuff. Seems to me all of it reported back to a microprocessor.

Took a little time to figure out but worked good.

One issue was fitting the new motor in place. Mounting holes all the same but size does matter.

I figure there are a few used machines out there that have a doner motor.

Would really seem like a deal at 1200 tho

:text-yeahthat: they really don't want that machine sitting around taking up space. Make an offer. Might be surprised....

That would be my guess.

Last week is they had a go kart and a minibike both with blown engines.  The recoil starter on the go kart was on the seat.  Engine was seized.  Minibike went clunk when I pulled the cord.  Broken rod.   At $500 each, no deal.

Do those come in vertical shaft config?  I've never looked at them.

Very true. That's how I got my Ingersoll Rand air compressor that's on my service truck...$1100 unit they had marked down to $750 as is, with what they thought was a locked up engine. Offered the manager $350 cash and we loaded it up in the truck. Turns out the engine was fine, they ran the compressor with no oil and locked it up. I put about $400 into parts to rebuild it, so for less than 800 bucks I've got a new compressor.

Me too, before I bought a new one.  Might not be as bad as 'all that'!

But I need another project right now like another hole in my head!

If anybody runs  this engine and the rpms start to go all over the board at idle you need to gap the spark plugs at .040 to make it smooth out.I fought one of these engines all summer.

Those 7000 series were pretty awful...they leaked alot, tiny air filter, but the good news is usually the electrical system on new cubs goes to pot before the engine expires

Either someone bought it, or they sent it back to the warehouse.

I'm still puzzled why the price card says it a Kawi FR691V but it clearly is a Kohler 7000.  I wonder now if the 7000 series is a rebranded Kawi ?  Did they do that ?

Nah...thats Kohlers lowest of the low end twin.  Kawasaki isnt worlds better with their FX/FS/FR lines...but the 7000 series and Kohler Confidant are..undesirable

The Courage singles were bad, but the Twins were more or less Commands with solid lifters and adjustable rockers, with a more conventional carb setup. my Toro Timecutter i just sold had over 900 hours on it, used no oil, no smoke or leaks, 2 starters, 1 carb, 1 voltage regulator. Its currently mowing 4.5 acres with the new owner.
