refracman 167 #1 Posted June 21, 2009 Went to a little auction today and they had this listed as a " home built garden tractor", and got to bring this home to the growing herd, had some help on determing it was what it was,Thanks!. Yup needs the right engine (got a line on that) and the steering needs to be addressed. Have allready asked for help and said he would, Thanks! Going to drive it around till winter, get all the parts together first then fix it up. And yes I'm still in disbelief!

Jim_M 179 #5 Posted June 21, 2009 Steve, Can you post more pictures of that tractor? I didn't think they put a steering wheel on them until 48 and then they used a different transmission and bell housing. The rear wheels look like 48-56 wheels, but the fronts would have been spoked wheels. Of course they could have changed things over the years. What engine does it have? Sparky-(Admin) 23,130 #6 Posted June 21, 2009 WOW!! Did anyone else at the auction know it wasnt homemade? I take it there wasnt a bunch of Wheel Horse guys at the auction. Mike......
refracman 167 #7 Posted June 21, 2009 Thanks guys Jim is a 46 lever steer, click on the pic, its a movie, and it will take you to my pbucket acc. there is a couple of movies and a bunch of pics. The steering has been to say the least modified, spindles, wheels, colume and linkage has been changed/added. The pivot point for the lever is there so something to go from.I'm going to refab the correct parts by takeing measurements and drawing prints from another lever steer. The engine also has been changed. But the rest is correct and it has brakes! Mike nope nobody else knew what it was ps. if you click on the movie, then in the upper left you click on veiw album you'll see the rest of the pics

Ken B 3,189 #12 Posted June 21, 2009 Wow what an unbelieveable find! I almost bought one myself about ten yrs. ago at the Kent CT. fall steam show. I must admit at the time I had no idea what it was, the owner was claiming homemade as well. I remember thinking, if this is homemade the dude was quite the craftsman. It wasn't until I bought a tractor from Michael Martino that I realized what I had missed. If I only had my trailer with me that day it would have went home with me for the measley 200 bucks he was asking. I wonder if anyone here bought it?
