Mustang67ford 234 #1 Posted November 13, 2021 Working on the 414-8. I noticed when pushing in the brake pedal, its stop appears to be the electrical connectors on the pedal interlock switch. The black arm the brake pedal red pushrod attaches to hits the connectors when pedal is pushed in. Here is a pic. Is this correct? Cant be good for the switch I woul think. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,322 #2 Posted November 14, 2021 Bushings in the cross tube worn? Brake lining worn thin allowing too much travel?

Should the lever not touch the terminals? Edited November 14, 2021 by Mustang67ford
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,322 #4 Posted November 16, 2021 The brake linkage should not touch the terminals on the neutral/clutch pedal switch. If you look down through the slot in the sheet metal you should see how the clutch pedal lever contacts the switch rocker when the clutch pedal is down enabling the starter. There was a service bulletin on this switch but not this model for an interference problem I think. Perhaps it is the wrong switch as what I believe is the correct switch is no longer available from Toro. If the terminals were on the bottom like in this picture would they clear everything? Click on the pictures for more info. More info on the 103480 switch Here is the service bulletin but don't understand the problem
Mustang67ford 234 #5 Posted November 18, 2021 (edited) My switch looks like #103480 and it appears to be installed per the instructions with the springy retainer tab orientation I believe. The springy tab is opposite the terminals. Which is how it is in my pic, arrow pointing to springy tab. Edited November 18, 2021 by Mustang67ford
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,322 #6 Posted November 18, 2021 Here is the way I see it. Your terminals are out the rear of the switch opposite the tab.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,322 #7 Posted November 18, 2021 The correct switch is 110970 but looks same as 103480. Left and right from operator's position in the seat.

Mustang67ford 234 #9 Posted November 30, 2021 Had a chance to look at this. Terminals are opposite the springy tab. Switch looks correct and looks installed correct. Not sure of the difference between 110970 and 103480. Here are some additional pics.
Mustang67ford 234 #10 Posted November 30, 2021 (edited) Here is a pic while pushing on brake pedal. Lever gets awful close to the terminals and does actually touch. Edited December 1, 2021 by Mustang67ford
