suitable replacement? - Kohler K301RT, has gear reducer

Recommended Posts

So as I wait out a replacement engine for my C-100 a Kohler K301RT popped up.  It has the gear reducer on it and is a pull start.  offhand the reducer looks to stick out much further than the normal shaft on the K301s.  My question is if anyone knows if the gear reduction can come apart and have the same shaft as a k301s?  I'm not interested in changing out the crankshaft to make it work.  Thanks for any insight you can give me.

Short answer; gear reduction engines have different crankshafts. They are splined on the output side to mesh with the gear in the reduction unit.

Well that stinks but thanks for the info.  I was hoping it would be removable like a pulley or something.  The engine was even red too...what a bummer...
