engine breather problems

oil is being sucked into the airbox

sorry guys its a 520H with a Onan p220g

Overfilled crankcase...Bad piston rings. Scarred cylinder sleeve... clogged pcv... incorrect oil weight... 

 

(Considering that I might have missed something here... other engine builders will be along...)

You wouldn't mind posting more information here about the engine itself... what type, if you have done any diagnostics like leak-down test... or anything to that effect...?

Don its a wheelhorse 520H with Onan p220g.

oil is being suck up through the breather tube on the front valve cover

More than likely... it is getting blown from the valve cover to the air filter.

 

You can run a catch can temporarily... rather than having it go onto your air filter... but this is 100% temporary...

How much oil we talking about? There is always some residual oil in the intake box.

Do a compression test to see if the engine is healthy.  If compression is good, do the breather service as stated above.  Be sure that the rubber tube is in good condition.

Hours on the engine, 

oil usage? 
does it smoke and if so when, cold hot both all the time, 

the tests and service the guys are talking about are easy and cheap. 
pictures are always good too
