I need a couple new ones They were the best I've had on the puller. Duane
Sparky-(Admin) 23,138 #7 Posted January 9, 2010 There probably great when their new or just a few years old but how many of you guys have bought tractors that were 10-15-20 years old or even older that the owner says the belt is original and it still works great. Most average homeowners wont swap the drive belt unless it snaps . I think longevity is where the WH belt wins out over the others. Mike.........

bork 0 #10 Posted January 10, 2010 Thats what I'm trying to find out. I'm wandering if my blue one has stretched. Seems when I push in pedal . (gotta measure) feels like an inch, before disengaging. When new, seems like the pedal had to be pushed in 4". Should I be adjusting something?
Sparky-(Admin) 23,138 #11 Posted January 10, 2010 There is no adjustment with the clutch on a manual WH. Your simply removing pressure on the drive belt by moving the idler pulley when you push the clutch pedal. Clutch pressure can be increased by having a "tougher" clutch return spring but thats all that can be done. If the "clutch" grabs to high then your aftermarket belt was to long to start with or has stretched. Mike.....
Jim_M 179 #12 Posted January 10, 2010 I had a red kevlar belt on my diesel 654. It didn't last long at all, stretched 1 1/2". I didn't even know a belt could stretch that much. It got to the point where I could let out the clutch and it would just sit and smoke until it got warm, then I could creep and crawl in first gear. It got me back to the garage at least. I've got a Pix belt on it now. The guy at the counter said it's rated for 40 horsepower and nearly 200 ft. lb. of torque. Hopefully it will last a lot longer. Time will tell. If I'm not happy with it I'll cross it over to a Toro belt and try that.
jusjeepn 59 #13 Posted January 10, 2010 Nothing last like OEM!
baerpath 517 #14 Posted January 10, 2010 We tried Pix black and the blue ones. Will never waste that money again. Looking at the red belts for the pullers, Having trouble using stock nelts on take off. The red one held up best so far. Almost got a season out of it. bork 0 #15 Posted January 11, 2010 were the red ones made in USA? Where did you buy the last one? Are they real expensive? I saved my old original belt. I changed it cause the tractor sat so long it must have put a shape into it. So when pedal is pushed in, the belt must be flopping around, making a wracket & hitting guard. rickv1957 74 #16 Posted January 11, 2010 Im still thinking OEM,you get what you pay for,Rick
Jim_M 179 #17 Posted January 11, 2010 The red belt that was on it came from Rural King. I don't know where it was made, but I suspect it was a chinese knock off of the good red belts.
Stress Test Pullin 0 #18 Posted January 14, 2010 i run the blue kevlar belts from tractor supply, i have them on both my wheel horse and sears pullers and ran the whole season with them, and have yet to need to replace them, just my 0.
bork 0 #19 Posted January 15, 2010 i run the blue kevlar belts from tractor supply, i have them on both my wheel horse and sears pullers and ran the whole season with them, and have yet to need to replace them, just my 0.02 Whats normal life span? I hope more than a couple of seasons. I checked the play on my 1057 with the new blue belt(import) after about 3 good snow days of plowing (about 6 tank full of gas) & now when I push pedal to disengage, I only push approx 3/4". When new, it was great! (approx 3" , just before braking resistance) What should be normal travel?
Stress Test Pullin 0 #20 Posted January 15, 2010 im not exactly sure how many seasons i can get outta them, i usually replace the belt after each season, just as a preventive maintence thing. it cost to much to pull to just end going out, hooking to the sled and burning a belt. and adjustment wise im not sure what to tell ya there, you can almost adjust it to whatever soots you as long and you can apply the brake fully and also let the clutch out and get the belt tight
