It's sad to see them go!

I look at that pic and don't see a refurb but I am seeing some sort of repurpose thing......like a shop cart/dolly for a tractor.

I wouldn't have left without those hubcaps even if I wouldn't have used them.  :angry-nono:

I visit a local scrap yard at least once a week. Most of you fellows would be shocked at the quantity and quality of hand tools, power tools, machine tools and tooling, building materials, antiques, and whatnots I have purchased over the last 20 years. Just yesterday I bought eight lightly used 1/2” and 3/4” carbide end mills, six bars of 1” round cold rolled steel 1 to 2 feet long and a small bag full of bolts and miscellaneous.

Two months ago I found a disassembled WH tractor. I don’t remember the model but it had an 8 speed transmission which I bought. I’m now kicking myself for not getting the two mower decks.

I once saw a 314-8 speed at the scrap yard. Try as I might, they would not let me take anything already taken as scrap. They had a sales area, but they wouldn't even consider it. The guy kept saying he put a screwdriver into the plug hole on it and it didn't move when he turned the flywheel, so I wouldn't really want it anyway. I didn't have the heart to tell him that the plug was over the valves, not the piston. Tractor was in better shape than half the ones I've brought home.

Closest I ever came to stealing something from the scrapyard. Oh well, I'd probably got caught anyway. I love these tractors, but not that much!

Yeah, I would have slipped the guys at the junkyard some bills. At my local dump... as long as the guy who runs it gets a wad... he'll let you do anything...:happy-partydance:

If he still wouldn't let me get it out... I would be... quite ugly... :bitch:

Around here once it hits the ground at a yard it's all over but the crying. @Achto saw it happen once to two beauties. Went back with some bills and beer but already off to the shredder. :crying-blue: Whats worse is the dude who scrapped them knew Dan was a collector.

Never will understand that routine at scrap yards…

$10 scrap value

$50 offer to buy

Go with $10 and all the work / wear and tear on equipment to shred???

Makes no sense…

:confusion-confused:
