cjb398 25 #1 Posted October 7, 2021 I have had several Kohler powered Wheel Horses, including 312-8s and a C-175. The high RPM setting when I get them has been anywhere from 2900 - 3200 RPM, yet the owner's manual says they can be set as high as 3600 RPM. What was the factory RPM setting, and do they naturally decrease in speed over time as the governor spring stretches?
pfrederi 18,644 #2 Posted October 7, 2021 3600 is factory.. i always set mine a bit lower. The high speed stop is pretty sensitive a small movement makes a big RPM change Who know what .previous owners adjustment were and then wear in linkages ... If your governor arm is contacting the stop and you are still low on RPM the you could adjust i

Jakeshorsetuff 36 #5 Posted March 9, 2022 You have to have a RPM reader to do so.
sgtsampay 117 #6 Posted March 10, 2022 I set mine to 3750 under no load with hydro turned off. When you engage the hydro it goes down to 3600-3550 which is perfect in my view.
