M series Kohler

Recommended Posts

Gregor

There have been some discussions lately about trouble shooting an M series kohler. I do own an MV 16 twin, but it's pieces waiting on the machine shop. I was wondering, just what are the differences, if any, between an M series single cylinder, and a K series cylinder? Can anyone explain?  Thanks Greg.

The pic @acc7484posted of his M 12 shows a really convoluted governor/carburetor/linkage/throttle system. Apparently some engineer had some free time on his hands.

The ignition, the bearing plate, starter, and sheetmetal are different.

The block, crank, piston, rod, cam, valves, and carbs are interchangeable for the same hp. Flywheels too if bendix starter type.
