Primary timing mark, proper alignment to cam? 
Does this look right ?

What engine are you working on? I can't really tell but I think the divot on the crank is the mark. You may be off a tooth.

If the cam mark is on a tooth, then the crank mark is on the closest valley.  If that is the case??  it is OK.  :orcs-cheers:

 

Edit to switch what I said above.  If the crank mark is on the tooth, then the cam mark is on the closest valley.

Kohler K301 the red mark in the pic is the divot on the crank I marked it red .The dot is on the cam gear.

 

Im confused because the mark on the cam gear is marked on the Vally but the crank looks to be marked on a tooth.

That would be correct...one is the tooth and that fits in the valley.
