billyg1985 0 #1 Posted September 22, 2021 The original starter finally gave out on my Wheelhorse 3112K801. Replaced with this:New Starter seen in the pictures. It worked fine for the first 5 or 6 starts then it no longer was able to start the engine. I removed the "new" starter. It has a burnt smell and the plastic dust cover looks like it was rubbing against something once the start was running. Not sure what starter to get to get me running again. Also when starting the mower it has made what I call a screeching noise until the engine fully starts. This has happened since I can remember 20+ years. KOHLER 41-098-04 Part# KH10187 in the original WH illustrated parts list plus https://www.partstree.com/models/m12-471527-kohler-magnum-engine-made-for-wheel-horse-12hp-9kw/electric-start-11-10-78-9/ What you need is a starter that replaces one of these part numbers.
