Moving a C-165 Auto

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry for asking this, but I have spent a couple hours searching and reading and still can't find the definitive answers...

I have a C-165 but it may be a C-175 with a C165 hood.  The serial number indicates a 175.  How can I identify the difference between the Eaton and the Sundstrand?  Does the Eton have the same tow valve as the Sundstrand?  What do you do with the valve to allow pushing the tractor?  Turn it a half turn left?  Right?  I'm sure the info is on this forum somewhere.  I just can't seem to find it.  Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

Simplest way in my mind is this:

All Eatons have a cam on top. Sundstrands do not.

And no- Eatons do not have a tow valve. Anything on a bigger C series should have the 1100 (with hydraulic lift), which should freewheel. Just don't ever tow it. You can push it by hand, but no faster.

Also a sunstrand transmission has the filter on the right side. The Eaton 1100 has the filter pointing out the back. The C165 would have a single cylinder Kohler engine and the C175 would have a 2 cylinder Kohler engine

Another easy way to identify the transmission is the filter location. Eaton is on the End, Sunstrand is on the Side !
