Rj25 model 8 Briggs and Stratton

First let me start by saying I’m not a RJ guy. 
These two engines are model 8 Briggs with good compression. According to the prior owner the one was off a rj25 and the black one was a spare engine in case the red one failed.

Both have compression. Apparently the red one was running when it was removed years ago when the tractor was scrapped (yes I know but it was probably in the mid 70’s and it was just considered an old tractor at the time so don’t shoot me I’m only the messenger) 
I don’t keep up with current pricing of RJ stuff and I would appreciate some input regarding pricing these engines to help sell them. 
From my research the 1955 rj25 did use the rope start. 
I appreciate the assistance and will be posting in the classified once I know what I’m dealing with.

The serial number puts it to 1953 and without a rj25 pulley on it I'd say it was never on a wheel horse.  Model 8 briggs was widely used and I don't see one sitting around 2 years before being put on a tractor. It may of been on a tractor because someone put it on there but not as factory. Most people can't tell a rj25 from a rj35 and often just because it has a briggs people assume it is a rj25 but there is a few good differences other then engine

thanks for the info. 
Maybe someone may want to use these model 8 for parts for their restoration.

Yea there is plenty of parts there. The black one does date to 55.

The black one could be used on one but without engine pulley or the oddball offset gas tank there is no real proof that it was off of one but could be used on one

I’ll keep them in the shed for now. Maybe someone will find a use for them as part engines.
