How much would my 1996 Toro Wheel horse 314H have cost with ba mower deck? Just curious, haven't found

any sales literature with pricing.

For reference my 1990 310-8 with a 37”SD mower was in the $2500 - $3000 range purchased new in the fall of 1991. At that time each 2 hp step up cost approximately $250. I think a hydrostatic transmission was about $500 cost. And I am guessing you have a larger mower deck which would be a $200-$300 extra. Plus whatever inflation was for those 5 years. I would guess your tractor was approaching $4000.

I bought a new 1996 314-8, with a 42 inch RD deck.  I am thinking it was $3495.  If you add in the up charge of the hydro, it agrees pretty closely with Dave's estimate.  In comparison, my 1979 C111-8, bought new with a 36 inch RD deck was around $1795.

From the frugal buyer's perspective, a bad deck equals no deck. If the tractor is solid, focus on that alone. After that, it's whatever you and the buyer is happy with. Running and serviced always matters. Flat tires and not running hurts... "Running when parked" doesn't count.

I've paid $25 for a tractor, and $700 for a 520-H. That was over a few years difference, but not more than 2-3. Everything in the middle was $100 to $300. The $25 tractor was worth more in the end just due to the cost of getting it servicable.

So tonight I bought a 314/8 with 42” side discharge deck from the original owner. In all the paperwork that came with it was the receipt…the tractor and deck were $3390 (that includes Connecticut sales tax). I suspect your hydro was a few hundred dollars more.
