Gear reduction, question for you experts.

Found a gear reduction with the no steering shaft. It is complete with the reduction and shaft to tie rods but the column shaft is missing. How different is a 520 column shaft from the rest? At first glance it would appear that the hole in the reduction casting is much smaller. Is the gear different too?

I am thinking there is a difference but not sure. It has been a while since I looked at this. I found one a few years back, at a good price, the same shaft was missing. I had visions of boring the hole larger.

Here is a picture of the one I sold maybe it will help in you comparison.

Do you recall if the gear on a regular non-reduction would mesh wit the reduction gear? If it would a non-reduction shaft could be turned down to fit and cut to length I would think.

Here is the standard Wheel Horse gear. The angles are different and won't work. If you haven't bought the 520 set up price it like he doesn't have the reduction gear set. Finding that steering shaft may be all most imposable.

Yep it would need to be almost free then. Toro still has them but at 179.00 for that part alone ouch! Thanks for the confirmation!
